David Milofsky has published seven novels and two collections of short stories. He has received fellowships for his work from Breadloaf, the MacDowell Colony and the National Endowment for the Arts. In addition, he has won a Prairie Schooner short fiction award the Colorado Book Award. He served as editor of Denver Quarterly and Colorado Review and was the founding editor of the Colorado Prize in Poetry. An Emeritus Professor of English at Colorado State University, he lives in Colorado with his wife Jean.
“In this masterfully written collection, David Milofsky takes us on a tour not only of the commonalities that bind people together in what we call a “neighborhood,” but also of the quirky, searching, and sometimes desperate psyches that define its collective beating heart. This is a storyteller who understands people and their struggles to find harmony in a discordant world. These tales are sometimes reassuring, sometimes tragic— but always filled with an extraordinary depth of insight.”
—Clint McCown, author of Haints and twice winner of the American Fiction Prize
